  Love this radar detector. Easy to use, lightweight, responsive, and good alarm details. I liked it better than my old Solo.

  Hello

  After doing some research and reading the reviews at Amazon, I expected the unit to work beter.
  I have for a long time had a highend Bell detector. But I needed a cheaper one for a second car.
  So far very un-impressed. Seems to pick up doors on stores but still has not picked up a police car or a office using laser on my lane. I now have to spend an additioal $300 to purchase a good detector…

  Range isn’t as good as my last one but this is definately much more accurate. Haven’t used it much in Quebec because of RDDs though

  First of, this detector has already paid itself off. I always drive with the flow of traffic on the overtake lane (and thats usually 6 over), however due to the car i drive, i’m usually the one that gets pulled over and gets the classic “you were the one i was tagging” reason by the pigs.

  So here we go,

  The good : Best detector for the price. I honestly believe you get the best performance for this price. Initially you might think you’re getting a faulty reading, but that doubt goes away pretty quick a mile down the road and you see a cop car.

  I also realized that not all cop cars in my city have radar guns. Seen many passed me, without the 695 going off only to notice the clean dash on the cop car.

  The bad : it doesn’t make a sound when passing the speed cameras, both mobile and static. i saw a flash in the opposite lane and slammed on my brakes barely making it pass unscathed. And just yesterday i passed a mobile unit under a flyover and it didn’t go off.

  Maybe i’ve got a faulty unit but i’ve yet to write to whistler about this. If you’re worried about this then maybe getting a unit with GPS would be better. But be prepared to fork out a lot more with monthly subscriptions. If you’re like me, and you know where all the cameras are, then this is highly recommended. Especially for its price.

  I almost bought a Cobra for a little less, but then I read a review on the Cobra, this, and one other radar detector. This one got way better reviews and I’ve been happy with it. I drive a grey Mini Cooper S with racing stripes so I get a lot of attention from the cops and I haven’t gotten a ticket yet.

  my unit – after about a week – kept flashing a “spectre alert” – even though was parked in my own garage ! called help line apparently needs to be sent back to have sensitivity turned down !

  The product is all it is supposed to be. Great price compared to other on-line offers. My only problem with it is the poor instructions. Needed to explain steps a little better and not concern themselves with saving on paper.

  So far so good sleak look, very adjustable, plenty of warning time,
  Hope the screen last longer than the last one Two years screen died.

  The product worked normal for couple months and then a blue streak/line appeared in center from top to bottom of the display screen. The line does not go away even after turning device on/off several times. Left device off for few days, still the line appeared when I plugged and turned on the device. Previously had voice-alert Cobra radar and after few years, the speaker started to crackle everytime it announced the alerts. Was hoping for better performance and luck with this device, but faulty display makes Cobra products less appealing to me now. Past the product return window, so unfortunately cannot return product. Very disappointed in this product due to display problem.

  The Cobra XRS-9955 provides very decent K/Ka Detection, definitely notice an improvement from the Cobra 9950 that I owned. During a driving test with my friend, it seemed to performed about the same level (in term of sensibility and number of false reading) as his Beltronics Pro GX65, a detector that costs twice as much as the Cobra. However, we did noticed the XRS-9955 is a bit slow to react and alert to instant-on radar. The Whistler Pro and Valentine One performed noticeably better in this area, but again they cost much more. The Cobra 9955 is a good choice for the money.

  The price was too good to be true, I bought it just for fun and impressed with it’s services, compared to price I paid.
