This has to be one of the most attractive electronic items I have seen in a long time. Unfortunately, this “Chrome won’t get you home” without a ticket.
The description of this item is technically correct but very misleading. While it is a 12-band device here’s the meaning behind those 12 bands:
Radar signals include
X Band – very short range detection capability
K Band – very short range detection capability
Ka Superwide – very short range detection capability
Ku Band – used in Europe – no value in North America
VG-2 alert – detectible to currently used VG-2 – undetectible only to unused VG-2 radar detector detectors
Spectre-1 detectible to currently used Spectre 2, 3, and 4. – undetectible only to unused Spectre 1 radar detector detectors
Laser signals include
LTI 20-20 – short range detection, if detects laser, you have already been clocked
Ultra Lyte – short range detection, if detects laser, you have already been clocked
ProLaser – short range detection, if detects laser, you have already been clocked
ProLaser III – short range detection, if detects laser, you have already been clocked
Safety signals include
Safety Alert® – not yet widely implemented – not a frequency used directly for speed enforcement
Strobe Alert® – not yet widely implemented – not a frequency used directly for speed enforcement
So you get
- a few short-range radar detection frequencies,
- a few laser detection frequencies (most of the time all too short range to protect you)
- a couple radar detector detector frequencies that detect obsolete and widely abandoned radar detector detectors, meaning where radar detectors are illegal this unit is not doing anything but broadcast that you have a radar detector…
- a couple unimplemented safety warning frequencies
Additionally, these units are notorious for giving off interference of their own which can be detected by other radar detectors!
The design is pretty but because of the light color and chrome parts, reflects off the dash. The internal speaker is not loud enough to hear over music or in a noisy environment. The power cord and mounting options make it very conspicuous. The brackets are not known for their durability.
Overall this unit gives a false sense of security, is detectible in states where they’re illegal, and has a marginal form factor.
Do your own research before buying units like this – you don’t get much more than a pretty package that makes a lot of noise when it shouldn’t and not enough noise when it should.

Well, I guess this product perfectly works in US but in Brazil does not, I just tried it with some mobile radars, super commons over here, and it’s just detect after past through the radar… So if you’re intending to buy and use it here, forget it…

comes set up right out of the box
very easy to use and set up just the way you want . works great very few false alarms. great radar detector for the price. if you by this radar detector im sure you will be as happy as I am with it since there are so many out there to pick from. the windshild mount is a little to small and the radar detector is about 6in long so it tends to bounce around over bumps. but all in all its well worth the money.

Pros:
- Text display, very helpful.
- Good product at reasonable price.
- Very few false alarms.
- Automatic mute.
Cons:
- Digital Compass is not reliable, constantly need calibration at least once a week.
- The power cord. I prefer a straight power cord versus the standard flex cord.
Not sure if this last one is a con or not but the emergency vehicle warning does not always activate when an emergency vehicle is approaching or passing. Not sure if it’s the emergency vehicle system or the radar. Either way it does not impact the original purpose of this radar, which is to locate police radars. A caveat I can live with.

This cobra has worked flawlessly. Great value for the money.
The compass calibration is more effort than it is worth but the radar
warns you long before the radar guns have you.

great product, I like the voice that tells me to quick step on the brakes. it’s a little annoying in the city when there are a lot of false signals, but it’s worth it.

Ok, let me start off by saying, ” for a hundred bucks, it aint too bad!” It doesn’t have the best range, but it does have a good deal of features to play with. It actually doesn’t false too much more than other detectors I own (bel 955, whistler pro 78). Definately has less range than those two, but at least it mutes itself without having to push a button like the bel! That to me is a big issue. Reaching up to the window to push a little button while driving can be a little hazerdous! HaHa. It does have nice tones to it’s alarms unlike the screeching bel and is fairly loud. It does have a nice coiled cord unlike the whistler which uses a straight one that flops around in front of my radio. The display can be tough to see in daylight at times. It seems to me, Cobra is just putting a product out there to make max profit! Where bel and whistler seem to put more emphasis on quality and performance. And the prices reflect it. That’s really the difference here! Like I said, it’s not bad for the price, and it really does detect radar albeit from less range than most. So if you’re budget doesn’t allow more expensive units, I’d say this isn’t a bad choice.

Item arrived quickly but just after a few days I realized I had a defective detector. The sensitivity was way too low. Even approaching a radar sign I would see my speed long before the detector went off. Even sitting 5 feet in front of the sign the detector never went over one bar. I contacted Cobra customer service and they were very helpful. Even sent a prepaid UPS label to send it back. Waiting on the new detector to make my final call.
