  Does the job well and keeps the detector cool and out of the direct sun.

  I’ve used a 8500 with a visor clip on my 2004 suburban since new, and the detector works flawlessly up there. Couple this with a direct wire cord either to the fuse block or the powerport on the rear view mirror and you have a truly built in look. I laugh when I see people with the suction cups and wires going all over the place. What a mess !! 2 other reasons to use a clip:
  1) my neighbor who is a police officer has told me that it REALLY irritates him when he pulls over a car and their “fuzzbuster” is in plain view stuck to the windshield. Any hopes of getting off with a warning thereby go down the drain.
  2) thieves see a detector stuck to the windshield and SMASH, its stolen !!

  Excellent visor clip. Holds radar detector tight to the visor. I would recommend this visor clip to anyone.

  This clip holds the radar detector fine. It doesn’t move or flop around which is a plus. I was a little concerned that I would lose some of the radars functionality since the bubble that detects signals from behind is covered up, but it still works great.

  I couldn’t find this clip in any local retails stores so it was nice to be able to just add it to an Amazon order. Price was average, but at least they had it. It allows easy mounting to visor, which works as well or better than dash mounting.

  This is an outstanding product and best value for the buck of all radar detectors I have seen or heard about.
  The only con I saw so far is that it gets some false alarms. Nevertheless, better safe than sorry – all it does is respond to beams and frequencies. It does have a toggle button city/highway to mitigate significantly false alarms, yet when you are on the freeway, it better be on highway mode.
  Now to the good stuff: It has a sweet display, way better than even the high end detectors have!
  The GPS module is a genius idea. You’ll be surprised how many red-light cameras are out there that you are unaware of. AND EVEN if you are familiar with them, it turns out to be a great reminder and a wakeup call right and ahead of time.
  This toy has already saved me twice so it has already paid for itself!!! I’ve gotta tell you one very important thing readers, and I hope this will not be censored: Lately, if you’ve noticed, there is an increasing number of patrol officers PICKING ON PEOPLE TO GENERATE MORE REVENUE TO THE GOVERNMENT, WHO IS DEEP IN DEBT. So it’s not that I don’t drive safely – I DO. But it’s time we be ahead of the game here!
  It covers virtually every type of radar detection out there!
  It has a compass, it can show your car battery voltage power, it can display your speed and you can set a threshold speed after which you’ll get a warning. It can show you your GPS coordinates at all times. Beautiful easy to get interface to configure the device to your preferences. What more could you ask for?
  So you see, not only is it a fine radar detector – it is much more than that. No other radar detector even comes close feature-wise – and that’s where I see this product’s strength. I am extremely happy with this purchase.

  As an engineer I have done some repeatable tests and every time I got same results, hence this unit is reliable in my opinion. I was able to pick all traffic photo enforcement areas and radars in different states. Display of GPS coordinate is a cool feature when you need to let others know where you are at. The “small USB” based GPS antenna should be reinforced a little bit for more mechanical ruggedness. I am not using the octopus grip clips that comes with the kit. Again…. design problem, The grip, length & angle of metallic piece, total weight of the detector do not match and fells from wind shield after a few road bumps. It is not major thing, you can buy different mount or stand.

  Over all I am pleased with the product.

  I have found a couple of camera’s that this product did not show up. I plan on turning these in but how many more is out there that i don’t know about. I pass a THP one night and never got no signal warning but there is always that chance that he wasn’t running radar. More time will tell before i take off and se it on a trip.

  This cobra has worked flawlessly. Great value for the money.
  The compass calibration is more effort than it is worth but the radar
  warns you long before the radar guns have you.

  Ok, let me start off by saying, ” for a hundred bucks, it aint too bad!” It doesn’t have the best range, but it does have a good deal of features to play with. It actually doesn’t false too much more than other detectors I own (bel 955, whistler pro 78). Definately has less range than those two, but at least it mutes itself without having to push a button like the bel! That to me is a big issue. Reaching up to the window to push a little button while driving can be a little hazerdous! HaHa. It does have nice tones to it’s alarms unlike the screeching bel and is fairly loud. It does have a nice coiled cord unlike the whistler which uses a straight one that flops around in front of my radio. The display can be tough to see in daylight at times. It seems to me, Cobra is just putting a product out there to make max profit! Where bel and whistler seem to put more emphasis on quality and performance. And the prices reflect it. That’s really the difference here! Like I said, it’s not bad for the price, and it really does detect radar albeit from less range than most. So if you’re budget doesn’t allow more expensive units, I’d say this isn’t a bad choice.

  great product, I like the voice that tells me to quick step on the brakes. it’s a little annoying in the city when there are a lot of false signals, but it’s worth it.

  Item arrived quickly but just after a few days I realized I had a defective detector. The sensitivity was way too low. Even approaching a radar sign I would see my speed long before the detector went off. Even sitting 5 feet in front of the sign the detector never went over one bar. I contacted Cobra customer service and they were very helpful. Even sent a prepaid UPS label to send it back. Waiting on the new detector to make my final call.

  Range isn’t as good as my last one but this is definately much more accurate. Haven’t used it much in Quebec because of RDDs though
