I previously owned the 8500 it is a good radar detector, but it is no where near as good as 9500xi. The false alarms are almost none existence and with the auto learn feature the alarms will be gone in no time. The is step but I was able to purchase mine on a open box policy for less.

Really a great buy. And it works everytime. I have avoided many problems because of it.

This a great radar detector, however mine had a problem and had to be sent back, Amazon made me send it back to the manufacturer instead of replacing it. It was only a month old. Still would buy another one just not from Amazon

I bought two of these off Amazon after my wife and I got speeding tickets the same day after many years ticket free.
The GPS aware is very cool. I have a speed camera intersection in my area and the unit warns me as I approach it. I have not noticed yet whether the auto learn feature for false alarms is working as advertised but the concept is very cool. I bought this unit because I want “set it and forget it” functionality. Be aware that in order to update the unit, you have to supply your own USB cable and you need to be connected to 12v power, most likely in the car unless you have a 12v power supply laying around.

This radar detector is the best one I have ever used. Not slightly better, unbelievably better.
I originally bought a Valentine V1 and I was very impressed with its range but couldn’t take it going off all of the time.
I then purchased this one and it has made all the difference. I sent the Valentine V1 back. This one picks up nearly as far. It may have slightly less range than the V1 but still way more than anything else. But it is worth the difference. It rarely goes off on false alarms, but after a week it had learned all of the few false alarms in my city and now it never goes off unless it is real.
I went with a friend on a work trip 8 hours away and we took my Escort in his car. He was very impressed. It only went off about 7 times and all of them were real. The first time it went off, we didn’t see anything and he said “so much for the false alarms.” But then after a few minutes a police car topped the hill. The range was just so good you couldn’t see the car yet but it could! After that trip, he is definitely buying one.
I live in Alabama and have never seen the speed camera part of it work since we don’t have those in the cities I have visited but I have used the Mark button to mark entrances of places where I have trouble finding the driveway at night and it works great. It goes off about 500 ft before and starts counting down distance. It even shows an arrow to let you know what side of the road it is on.
The V1 is built better physically with its metal case and physical knob. This one has a cheaper plastic case and buttons but the electronics and GPS are so advanced. The brightness of the LED’s can be put in automatic so the brightness varies with the sun so at night it is not blinding you but it gets really bright during the day so you can see it. And the display on the front can be changed to show different things. I have mind doing a KITT type thing with a dot scanning back and forth. Looks kind of cool. And I really like the voice announcements. I thought I would turn that feature off, but instead I really like it. The volume also softens after the initial beeps so it gets your attention but then quits being so loud. All these settings and tons more can be adjusted using internal menus on it.

Product was delivered promptly and a few were returned to exchange for another product. Return was easy and there were no problems.

We returned this product. My son is a 17 year old LH pitcher whose fastball has been clocked at 84 mph on both Juggs and Sportster radar guns operated by college coaches at various camps and workouts. This (Bushnell) product never had him above 72 mph, and frequently had readings that were nonsensical: 27 mph, 38 mph, etc. Often we got no reading at all.
I thought that perhaps it was operator error on my part, until I spoke with others (at a college prospect camp) who had purchased the same product and had virtually the same experience. Save yourself the hassle of sending it back: don’t buy it at all. You will be disappointed.

I purchased this to measure the speed of radio controlled airplanes. It works great, and I am not dissapointed. The quality of the construction is also execellent.
9 Dunn
This gun if fine. Vary hard to get a good reading on the ball as it comes to the plate. I would say 4 out of 10 times it will pick up the speed of the ball. I would recommend spending $100-$200 more if you want to not bother with taking reading after reading.

The unit was used at Road Atlanta race track and performed as advertised. The unit can give erroneous readings when multiple cars are bunched together and moving at different speeds, however, this isn’t fault of the unit. The only other downside is that to obtain accurate speeds the car needs to be moving nearly directly towards you or away from you not when the car crossing directly in front of you. Again not the fault of the unit just the nature of how Doppler radar works. The unit works best when you have a clear view to a car approaching or going away such as down a long straight away.

I bought this for my son’s birthday and it has been great. He always wants to know how hard he is throwing the baseball and it works perfectly. He loves it and it is very easy to use.

I ordered this product for a bit of fun but it has been quite amazing the results that it provides.
Order arrived very fast to me here in Australia and it was well packed.
Price was incredible, the savings were over $100 from the local price here for the same product.
For the price, I doubt you will find better value, especially if you live in Australia.

Appears to accurately measure velocity of baseballs, softballs, even wiffle balls. It helped me teach my kids that 50 mph vehicle + 50 mph vehicle = 100 mph impact. This radar gun is accurate only when the object being measured is on a direct collision course with the gun, but that’s what I expected. So don’t sit on the third base line at a baseball game and complain that your son’s pitches are being clocked too slowly. Go back to physics class and recall vectors. I awarded only four stars because, with only 3 weeks of use, I’m not sure of the radar gun’s durability. As long as this product stays durable, I’m happy with it.

I have tested their products and they do no work as advertised. They do provide low end radar and laser detection, but for the price you can buy much better units from reputable radar detector makers. They do not scramble laser or radar used by police to prevent you from getting a ticket. Be sure to Google Rocky Mountain Radar BEFORE you buy one of their products. If you still end up buying one of their products, I have some bridges I’d like to sell to you. Here is a video with a review showing how their products don’t work, and that fake documentation was given to the news network to say it works:

Do you honestly think this product can scramble police laser and radar? Its a SCAM. Don’t take my word, just research the manufacturer. Save your money, save your license….do not buy! If you want an effective radar detector, checkout Valentine 1, Escort/Cel and Whistler.

Beware. I bought four of these units everyone had defective suction cups
one of the units fell from the window as I was going around a trun and flew out the window. they will not stick to the window no longer than 15 min and the wil fall off. The company got my money and gave me a big run around. Telling me to clean the windows with cleaners and ect. Bottom line to bad sorry about your luck solong. I rate them poor and morally bankrupt

This is a much better product than the RMR-C475, because the voice is nice, not grating as the 475. We did have a problem with this unit (no sound) but fortunately the vendor replaced the unit without any hassel (except my paying the shipping).

Repeatable tests show that all of this companies products are an outright scam. Just take a look at all of the consumer reports and Better Business Bureau complaints lodged against the company. They even got in trouble with the FCC!
They do however have an excellent PR machine, and it is sad to say but the vast majority of these positive reviews are from Rocky Mountain Radar paid representatives. I am a member of several enthusiast forums and RMR even pays their shills to infiltrate the forums and spread false positive reviews about the product.
A quick google will confirm everything I am saying. Google for “Raday Roy and Rocky Mountain Radar”.

I purchased this radar detector specifically for a long drive from San Diego to Redding, CA (about 13 hours each way). I knew that I’d have to be driving “expeditiously” to not go insane on such a long trip, but avoiding speeding tickets is a high priority.
To be quite honest, I didn’t expect much from this radar detector considering the price. I’ve used Cobra brand detectors in the past with mixed results, and had been around Valentine One’s to know how awesome they are. This one didn’t look special really, but it looked “good enough”. So here’s the gist…
POSITIVE IMPRESSIONS:
====================
1. Works as advertised…it’ll tell you about radar signals
2. The blue LED warnings lights definitely get your attention
3. Acceptable level of control over functionality
4. Its not bad looking
5. Its LOUD and will get your attention when it needs to.
6. I’m confident that it is very sensitive because its always going off
NEGATIVE IMPRESSIONS:
====================
1. The blue LED warning lights are too bright at night. The ability to turn them on/off or dim would be ideal.
2. Volume adjustment is trivial. Even at its quietest volume setting (with quiet mode OFF), its LOUD.
3. The mount is a bit wobbly, so the radar detector shakes as you drive (unless you wedge it against your rearview mirror as I did).
4. Not the prettiest display ever, but not horrible. I didn’t read the manual and I was able to understand it.
5. If city mode does anything, I can’t tell.
OVERALL:
====================
I definitely like this product and I would recommend it to a friend. I’ll always lust for the Valentine One, but this thing does its job and finds radar when its around.
Just remember: this radar detector won’t protect you from highways that are patrolled by aircraft. I saw the CHP officer coming from a mile away, but it didn’t do me any good since the airplane had already nailed me. Woops!
